Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Hi My name is Kat and I have had OCD since I was 15 yrs old. I am sober from drugs and alcohol for 3 1/2 years(YES!!) now which has been quite a journey in my life. Ive spent many a night in rehabs. I used drugs and alcohol to get out of feeling the ocd for so many years, telling myself it was better that way. Well, it wasn't.I just started losing all sense of self and soul and truly became numb and deadened inside. It was awful but a trap I kept falling into for so long. My medications work a lot better now that I am sober I have to say that my ocd has gotten better over the years and was worst in those first 5 years or so. It still gets a hold of me though and I have to practice my exposure response prevention constantly which is a complete drag, I know, but what the hell can I do.I try to do it all a day at a time and I swear some days I really want to kill myself over the stupid ocd. Im amazed at the power of this enemy in my mind. All I can do is fight back, cuz when I run he eventually catches up with me.. I know there is no cure for OCD yet but there is hope and there are all of you who I need so much for support to be able to handle this crap. :)
