Hi ! I have found that when I am stressed that my OCD is alot worse and harder to control. Sometimes it makes me soo tired that I just stop fighting it so hard and let it run it's course. Since I joined the tribe I have found this site helpful in helping me deal better when I am stressed. You are not alone. We are here for you. Hang in there. Jen

I agree with RQ. Stress throws me off. And I love how she asked you to redirect your mind and energy into something positive. Great advice.

Lots of OCD revolves around our desire to be in control of the events in our lives that we have no control over. A dead car battery is one of those uncontrollable and hard events...it is natural for coping mechanisms to kick in to try to help you feel in control. Is there any way to look at the event of the dead car battery and draw something positive that came out of that as a result? Maybe you can try reminding yourself of that good thing and it will drain the energy from your new attack of OCD. Just a thought. I feel for you...I've been there and can go back there again in a moments notice.

Hi, Greta... YES, ocd can be very difficult to deal with and YES outside stressors can throw you over the edge with the ocd.  Happens to me frequently-- continues for days and sometimes even weeks.  I have to try diligently to "refocus" my mind and keep myself very busy.  Hopefully, something will click and I'll become "obsessed" about one of the positive activities I'm involving myself in.

Hang in there... look for something to try to divert your mind today!!  Have a good one!  ~RQ
