If you have OCD, you know the torture of constantly trying to avoid a potential disaster or feared

consequence, whether it is harm to you or your family, going crazy, being evil, or forgetting something. The

list is as infinite as human imagination. Most of the time, the feared consequences don’t occur. Your family

doesn’t contract AIDS; you don’t turn into a serial killer; you don’t molest your children. For obsessing about

obsessing the fear is the obsessions will never end and as a result your life will be horrible.

Have any of us gained anything from OCD? I haven't. If anything I have lost so much.

How much more are you willing to lose to OCD? You have the choice to be free from OCD by just learning to "accept uncertainty". It is that simple. There is no magic pill or 5 step program. I have tried these methods  and they don't solve the problem. Accepting to live with doubt does. There will always be a "what if" and nothing in life is certain.

Well, actually, I feel that I've gained a lot.  I have scrupulosity.  Religious obsessions. I found that the only way to relieve my symptoms was to change the way I looked at God.  I've been engaged in a spiritual quest for many years now, and I have gleaned so much wisdom from many sources.  If I had not been a seeker, I never would have gone to my church and met all of my friends.

I havent really thought about a "Gain", I know I have lost a lot of time because of OCD, Job offers, Fun time with my family.  Some days I am stronger and I look the ugly beast in the face and say not today, beat my brain up all you want, but I will have a good day with my family
