I have had OCD since I was about seven or eight years old. I hid it until I was about 16 , then I finally told my parents that I had this disorder and they did not understand. I was able to start getting my life back from the disorder when I was about 19 Years old.. but I still hid my real self from everyone. I got married when I was 22, I have been married for four and a half years now, OCD brought several challenges to our marriage, especially because I had taught myself to keep everyone out. I have finally been getting treatment for OCD and going to a therapist that specializes in CBT. I have been finally letting down my walls, letting other people in, and have realized that life is a continuous journey of healing for us with OCD. I have also realized that one of the biggest steps in healing is letting other people see the real you. It is hard and scary but life is so much less lonely! I still suffer from relationship OCD, OCD when it comes to some food items, and I still have pretty intense intrusive thoughts. I am a police officer, I am Catholic, I love the beach, I am one of six kids, and I feel like love is our mission during this life! Thats pretty much it! ( :
