Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

I have american and south african citizenship. I grew up in cali, and just recently I spent a year and a half living and studying in cape town south africa. where I live is awesome, but cape town is awesome in a whole other way. I miss it. I went to a waldorf high school in cali. it was pretty much the sh*t.

ocd: I was diagnosed with bdd and ocd in april 2010, but looking back I think it might have started much earlier on in my life. it really kicked into high gear starting in early 2010. I eventually began cbt which has been so amazingly helpful. my bdd is practically gone, and I've come a long way. after bdd dwindled, existential and philosophical obsessions emerged, and Im still dealing with this. when the existential stuff first started, it was absolutely horrible. things are generally better now tho. still, I f@cking hate ocd.

not to long ago I was absolutely convinced that I found what I really wanted to do as a career, which involved being a therapist of some sort (helping people with their ocd?...) but now I don't want to do that anymore, not out of a genuine disinterest in that field but probably because of how much I feel victimized by ocd. who knows were I'll end up, in the meantime I have an amazing volunteer job and I'm studying for a second one at an animal shelter.

hanging out with friends, meeting new people, great conversations, listening to and playing music, watching basketball (and sometimes playing), reading, mediating and whatever else I discover that helps me feel more at peace. letting go of all your inhibitions on the weekend with your favorite people, in a drug and alcohol free way, and a lot more

soo darn much. my ipod is quite eclectic. my favorite bands/artists at the moment are the pixies, the minutemen, weezer, snorlax and alexi murdoch.

the four agreements, this place I call home, god's bits of wood, this blinding absence of light, the stranger, the kite runner, running with scissors.

man on wire, do the right thing, american beauty, les cousins, pan's labyrinth, the kings speech, the shawshank redemption, the battle of algiers, la haine, everything is illuminated, dead man, lars and the real girl, the science of sleep, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, and Im not ashamed to say the harry potter movies...most of them.
