This
group
is
for
anyone
who
has OCD,
an anxiety
disorder
or
problems
with
anxiety.
The
goal
of
the
group
is
to
explore
what
anxiety
is
and
how
to
cope
with
it,
so
we
can
better
recognize
the
symptoms
when
they
occur
and
deal
with
them
effectively.
The
meetings
are
an
hour.
Sometimes
we
stay
longer.
During
the
first
half
of
the
meeting
we
will
each
read
a
passage
about
Anxiety
Disorders.
Mainly:
OCD.
Afterwards,
we
will
share
our
thoughts
about
the
material
and
have
an
open
discussion
about
whatever
is
going
on
in
our
lives.

Goal
of
the
group
This
group
was
organized
by
me,
Frank
DeFulgentis
in
2009
to
provide
support
for
those
of
us
with
OCD
and
anxiety.
I
put
this
group
together
because
I
feel
it
is
helpful
for
us
to
meet
others
with
OCD
and
share
what
we
know.
I
enjoy
doing
this.
I
study
psychology
because
I
am
genuinely
interested
in
the
subject.
Specifically,
I
read
about
OCD
and
anxiety
and
the
latest
treatments
and
discoveries.
Rules
This
is
the
kind
of
group
where
we
want
to
be
vocal
so
we
can
talk
about
what
is
going
on
with
us
and
the
symptoms
we
are
experiencing.
Also,
it
is
recommended
that
you
make
suggestions
on
how
to
improve
the
group
and
bring
material
that
you
think
will
benefit
the
group.
Having
said
that,
I
understand
that
there
is
a
certain
amount
of
trial
and
error
involved.
Some
of
us
have
not
been
vocal
before
about
our
conditions.
The
main
thing
to
keep
in
mind
is
that
it
is
not
always
easy.
I
ask
that
you
always
be
courteous
of
others
and
understanding
of
the
struggles
they
are
experiencing.
The
general
rule
of
thumb
is
that
if
a
member
has
been
inactive
for
more
than
four
months
they
will
be
removed
from
the
group.
We
ask
that
you
participate
in
some
way,
whether
it
be
on
the
message
board
or
in
person.
Many
people
join
because
they
suffer
daily
from
extreme
anxiety
but
some
are
not
ready
to
change.
The
truth
is
there
is
no
right
answer
to
your
questions,
and
there
is
no
easy
path
to
recovery.
I
will
never
attempt
to
sugar-coat
it.
If
you
want
to
get
better
it
is
going
to
take
work..and
sometimes
you
will
have
to
face
things
that
are
emotionally
painful,
but
you
don't
have
to
go
through
it
alone.
