First of all, I get totally freaked out every time I have to change my daughter's diaper, which is 3-4 times (at least) a day. I count the minutes until my husband comes home to do the changing. I try to pay attention to everything, and then, I wipe her, ritually, after the diaper is changed. I wipe her hands, feet, back, etc. I know she hates it, and it breaks my heart when I am doing it. Plus, I try to secure her hands so she doesn't touch anything (my husband says to pull her onesies over her hands), but it doesn't seem to work! I hate putting diaper cream on, too... I feel like a bad mom sometimes. They even say to let your infant go without a diaper for a bit to "air her out." I could never do that!!! Does anyone have any advice? Also, not only do I hate changing diapers, I have a S-U-P-E-R fear of changing them in public. (I am getting anxious just typing this!) Does anyone else have a fear of changing diapers in a public restroom? It is preventing me from doing some fun summer things like going to amusement parks, the pool, etc. I panic everytime we leave the house, especially if my husband is not with me. What about letting your older children use a public restroom? I know that I myself don't use public toilets, but I don't want to cause my daughter to have an accident someday because of my stupid OCD! Then, I dread having to walk in there with her, but I would never let her use a public restroom by herself because of safety reasons. Help!

For me it was difficult to let anyone else change my babies diapers...I thought my husband or my mom would not clean them properly so I had to do it. My mom would babysit but the kids had to get a bath as soon as we got home!:)

I hate public restrooms also! I use them, but rarely..and I don't let my kids go in alone! That's a huge fear for me.

Anyway I wanted to say when my kids were in diapers years ago, I would always take the kids to our car (an SUV then) and change the diapers there...Would that be an option for you? I figured it was much better to change the baby in the back of the SUV than in the restroom where it may not be as clean. I had an old baby blanket that I would put down and it was only used for changing diapers on.

Oh and I have heard the airing out thing too..but I never did that either.
