I was wondering if anyone has ever taken any medication that they think really helped their OCD? I've been hearing about Anafranil, and it sounds good, but I also remember hearing a while back that it wasn't available in the U.S.  I don't know if thats changed yet or what.  And if there is anything else you think might have helped you, please let me know. Thanks!

Anafranil is available in the US.  I think each person is different as to which med works for them.  I am on a high dose of Effexor, and it definetely has worked to help me reduce the intensity of the anxiety related to an OCD thought. Took a couple of different trials of meds before I found the one that worked for me.

I've been on Anafranil for a year now and it's done wonders for me, combined with CBT. Most of the side effects I've experienced were short term, apparently anafranil is one of the most effective meds for ocd but can also have bad side effects so it depends on how you react to it. personally i'm glad i went on and atm i wouldn't consider coming off of them.

She got married for a while, to one of those sensitve men - that like to watch 'Thelma and Louise' over and over and over again, 'til she caught him naked with a jazz-man, caused so much razzamatazz - it wasn't the sex though, she just hated jazz.

I have had  A LOT of success with Lexapro so far. I also haven't had any side effects with it either. It's a bit expensive but worth EVERY penny. Good luck! I wish you the best.
