Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

I am a doctoral student in a psychology program so that is pretty much my life right now, but I love it. I am a realist which leads me to be pretty blunt. I like to be the expert, I like to help people, and as much as I like to work hard I like to play hard.

I have had obsessive-compulsive disorder since I was eight years old but I was not diagnosed until I was an adult. Since then, I have committed to making it making OCD my own professional research interest to help make people more aware of the disorder in children and to help show how important early identification and treatment truly is. I hope that I can bring a lot of empathy to the field while remaining unbiased in my research and treatment of this disorder.

TV... Monk, SVU, House, Psych, Sopranos, Scrubs. Watching and going to NBA basketball games. I Playing sports. Summer, rollercoasters, halloween, haunted houses, the zoo, waterparks, dressing up, going to concerts, having fun with my brothers and friends, and dogs.

Dirt, snow, my fear to eat due to contamination concerns, worms is my #1 dislike.

Whatever gets me dancing! :-)

I mostly read research on obsessive-compulsive disorder in order to work on my research and treat clients. I rarely have time to read for fun; however, Andrew Vachhs and Chuck Palahniuk are amazing authors. I have always loved Shakespeare... fan of philosophy. To name a few: Socrates, Aristotle, Plato, Voltaire, Dante, Machiavelli, Dostoevsky, Kierkegaard, Kafka, Nietzsche, Maugham, Becket, Camus.

Dark comedies, regular comedies, scary movies, mob movies, action flicks, kids movies. Anything entertaining.

I love to travel! I have been to a lot of great places on vacation but I also travel a lot to present research at conferences. I will be going to Boston twice this summer (and likely again next spring), possibly Las Vegas this fall, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Chicago constantly. Hoping to go back to Jamaica, it's so beautiful there.
