I have suffered with OCD since I was eleven years old. It has taken many forms including checking things and handwashing. After my second child was born I had a particularly nasty spell of post natal depression, followed by a very severe period of OCD, this time obsessive thoughts. Unfortunatley I have had obsessive thoughts ever since. This does cause me a lot of problems but I do also feel that some very positive things have come out of having this disorder.
I now work with people with learning and other difficulties and I feel I can draw on my own experiences with OCD to help me in my work. For example, I am more patient and understanding with people as a result of having OCD. I also try to work hard because I never know when I am going to be unwell again so I try and get as much done as I can when I am feeling OK.
If I can help anyone on this site please just let me know and I will try to help. With love and very best wishes to you all. Julia xx
