ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Andrea and I've had severe OCD since I was 14. I've had many different types of obsessions, and it seems that as soon as I conquer one I am bombarded with another.

Last Spring, I graduated with Honors from University with a Double-Major in Biotechnology and Technical Writing! Currently I run genetic tests and analyze profiles to diagnose genetic disorders in patients. I'm not sure what the future holds, maybe a PhD in biology or perhaps medical school; I've learned to take everything in stride, one day at a time--I think that's what this disease has taught me the most.

I hope to inspire all those with OCD, both the newly diagnosed and those who have suffered for years. I want to show not only those with the disease, but the whole world, that mental illness does not have to limit your life, that you can do anything in the world if you want it badly enough.

Hi Andrea. This is Russ. I like your "myocd" playlist, some nice songs to listen to while I type this. I'm so sorry that you've had to deal with OCD since you were 14. For me, it started at 18, almost 19. Fortunately I've already hit the bottom, and things have only been getting better. That is amazing that you are double-majoring. Does that mean you'll have 2 bachelor's degrees? I'm not sure what it means, what does it mean? Biology is very fascinating, I've only taken the basic level biology (like 100 0r 1000) in college, it was amazing stuff to learn though.

That is really nice of you concerning Type I Diabetes, that sounds like a wonderful goal/desire/ambition. I'm actually not very familiar with Diabetes, I can't think of anybody I know that has Diabetes, and nobody that I know of in my whole extended family has it. I guess I'm very lucky. That will be an amazing accomplishment, I hope your able to do it. All I can think of right now is that there is Type I and Type II. One of them is just genetically inherited from birth, and the other is acquired later in life, I don't remember which one is which though. So do you have Diabetes? Or someone close to you? What really drew you to help finding a cure for Type I Diabetes?

Well, good luck with all your classes, and dealing with OCD. Ogh, I just saw your "movies" up above, I love "A Beautiful Mind," that is such a good movie. I really like Russell Crowe too.
